Typically when it comes to doing the annual Deals of the Year we, as journalists, have to badger banks and financial institutions to inform us as to which law firms worked on particular deals. This seems somewhat odd as it is one of the items of initial information that we request from banks for any deal. Do people not like telling us about the law firms? Certainly banks are only too keen to tell us of the cost of legal advice – but where would most trade deals be without such expert legal advice?
