Arranging financing in the agri-sector in the countries of the CIS requires not only specialist financing skills of the structured commodity financier, but also in-depth knowledge of the companies involved as well as specific country and commodity expertise. With this $225 million pre-export financing for Kernel Trade we also see one of the largest agri-sector financings ever to be structured for the Ukrainian market and a landmark there in 2008. Such a deal is only possible with the most successful companies in the market, and Kernel with its profitability, management and transparency is one such company.
Within this deal, ING Wholesale Banking (ING), UniCredit/HVB and its subsidiary UniCredit Ukraine acted as mandated lead arrangers in a syndicated $225 million pre-export finance facility for Kernel Trade, a fully-owned subsidiary of Kernel Holding – the number one bottled vegetable oil producer and marketer in Ukraine with a 35% market share....
