Too close to call in 2008, both HSBC and Standard Chartered attacked this category with vigour in 2009. HSBC managed to build on its sound reputation, long history of supporting trade in the region, and expertise across the disciplines of trade finance. Voting this year has also seen the emergence of a solid block of votes for UAE banks pushing two of them up to fourth and fifth place.
