Concerned about the impact of Basel II and Basel III on trade finance, banking association BAFT-IFSA has released a list of its key recommendations for the Basel Committee.

Concerned about the impact of Basel II and Basel III on trade finance, banking association BAFT-IFSA has released a list of its key recommendations for the Basel Committee.
The proposals have been published this week at the same time as a group of 23 banking and trade associations sent a second letter to the Basel Committee asking it to make further changes to the capital requirements for trade finance (Trade Finance 05/12/11).

BAFT-IFSA, along with others in the manufacturing, banking and services industries, is concerned about the effect that Basel II and Basel III could have on the availability of trade finance. Basel III does not address industry issues with Basel II regarding trade finance. Indeed, Basel III presents additional concerns.
